De acuerdo con Copernicus, la temperatura promedio global se estimó en 0.04 grados centígrados más caluroso que en el mismo mes de 2016

BÉLGICA.– Este año continúa trayendo temperaturas récord y julio se ha clasificado como el más cálido registrado en todo el mundo, informaron hoy investigadores del servicio europeo Copernicus sobre el cambio climático, conocido como (C3S).

“La temperatura promedio global para julio de 2019 estuvo a la par y posiblemente un poco más alta que la de julio de 2016. Este fue el mes más cálido; sin embargo, la diferencia entre las temperaturas en julio de 2019 y julio de 2016 es pequeña”, refirió.

“Según nuestras estadísticas, 2019 tuvo en julio el mes más caluroso desde que tenemos registro. Julio suele ser el mes más caliente a nivel mundial (…) la ola de calor en Europa y Estados Unidos incidió para que se logre este registro récord”, indicó el jefe de Copernicus, Jean-Noël Thépaut.

Advirió que esta marca histórica podría próximamente ser superada. “Si se mantienen las emisiones de gas de efecto invernadero y hay un aumento en las temperaturas a nivel mundial, habrá récords aún más elevados”.

De acuerdo con Copernicus, la temperatura promedio global se estimó en 0.04 grados centígrados más caluroso que en el mismo mes de 2016.

Señaló que “julio es generalmente el mes más cálido del año. Esto se debe a que las grandes masas de tierra del hemisferio norte se calientan más rápido de lo que los océanos del hemisferio sur pueden enfriarse durante los meses de verano”.

Copérnico es el programa de observación de la Tierra más ambicioso de la historia, diseñado para proporcionar información precisa, actualizada y de fácil acceso para mejorar la gestión del medio ambiente, comprender y mitigar los efectos del cambio climático y garantizar la seguridad ciudadana.

El programa es encabezado por la Comisión Europea (CE), en colaboración con la Agencia Espacial Europea (ESA), está última es responsable de coordinar la distribución de los datos recogidos por más de 30 satélites.
